Notice the pictures on each package. When one of the Presidency or Quorum of the Twelve spoke, the kids dove into the basket to find the package with his picture on it and divided the spoils. The kids decided on the best idea of them all though. One night for FHE we cheated and read some stories from the Friend as our lesson. One of them was about a family who read about King Benjamin's people casting their tents toward the temple in order to listen to their leader speak to them. The kids in the story decided they wanted to have a tent for General Conference and made their Reverence Tent out of pillows chairs and blankets. Well that idea became ingrained into our kids' minds and they decided the only way to listen to Conference was with a Reverence Tent of their own. Long after the packets were completed and tossed aside, and with the packets of skittles dwindling, the Reverence Tent held out. As long as it was up and they were in it, they were quiet. It may become a tradition. Now for Elijah, the way we made it through conference with him (for the morning sessions that he was awake) went something like this:
That's the library's Land Before Time in there. Good old Little Foot.
And since I couldn't decide which picture to post because he is so cute I'm putting this one up too.
Oh and just one more. And I'd just like to say that Daddy got him dressed today. That's why he matches so well and all.
There were plenty of times I told the kids to be quiet or sit down or knock it off, but we made it. Hope yours was good too.

I love the reverence tent idea. I am totally going to steal it. Why didn't you and Darren build a little tent?
I love both ideas! My kids would for sure love the grub, but I think the tent idea would be a popular one around here too. Thanks for the new ideas!
I wish I had done something like with the skittles. The trick is remembering for next conference. My kids were pretty good too. I am glad to hear you are still alive I count on your blog to check up on you guys and the posts have been scarce. Love to hear from you and miss you guys always.
My kids always build tents for conference, too, but we never had a "gospel principle" behind them! I'm going to have to remember that!! :) You're such an awesome Mama!
Yes, I need to remember the tent idea too, I did read about it in the friend, as far as the skittles go, you have my solution for next year, we will share. We had a packet of candy for everyone for each talk, and today I cannot stand the sight of candy! It worked well though to keep their attention. And Elijah is too cute sitting there with his headphones!
That is great. I love it. Those kidos are so cute and of course they would decide to do something like that. I just love those kids, and I love the fact that you didn't even bother with Elijah, knowing it would be a losing battle. Love you guys and can't wait to see you.
Ok I love it. When I have kids I am so going to steal the idea. How cute that they came up with on their own the tent. Some of the greatest "Tender Mercies" come from children. Kiss them all for me. Miss you my babies.
I'm saving these ideas for next time. Thanks! I wish I could've read this before Saturday, darn.
cute ideas Heidi! I was so bummed I read about the reverence tent last night in the Friend, too late!
I found your blog! What a cute mom you are. I'm loving the reverence tent idea. I love lazy conference weekends. I usually make yummy food and eat way too much! Julie
