Mexico Part 1

Guess what we did this weekend? We went to visit my sister...in COZUMEL, MEXICO! I KNOW! How fun! We really did have a blast. While Thursday and Monday were devoted to getting to and from, the rest was just such a great time. This is a picture of Darren and I at a restaurant on Thursday night. My sister, Rebecca and her hubby tried really hard to make sure we ate good and didn't get sick while we were there.

You might notice that there are no little munchkins in the picture. That's because we left them in AZ. We flew my youngest sister Melissa down from BYU-Provo to come and spend her long weekend with the kiddos. What a saint! And you wouldn't believe what she had to do to get here. (Driving in a blizzard on I-15 for 4 1/2 hours and a race to the airport with my brother Randy - THANKS YOU GUYS!) Anyway she made it at 2am the morning that we were to fly out so I barely got to see her at all. She will get bonus points in heaven for taking my three kids to Stake Conference. Let's face it, WE don't even like to take them to Stake Conference and there are TWO of us. Bless you, bless you, bless you Missy!

Now back to Mexico.

See those toes? See that view? That's proof that I was there doing nothing that required too much brain power or effort. Just laying on the beach. Ahhh....

Me in a swim suit!?! There's a reason I left this shot so small!

Friday morning we stole Becca from her job (Daniel had to work) and we went snorkeling (so fun) and played in the ocean, then met back up for more yummy food that night. Darren tried the fish tacos and let me have a bite. They were awesome!

Saturday all four of us hopped on the ferry back to the mainland - and I met up with a few Lamanites. Who knew they were so available for pictures? Tee hee hee. We rented a car and drove an hour down to Talum, some Mayan ruins. Okay seriously, those were amazing! I have so many pictures of that place because I just couldn't get over them. I'll post them all next but here is a taste.

Here my brother in law Daniel, my sister Rebecca and my honey (that's what Parker calls being a husband or wife) Darren are headed down the trail to look at the ruins.

I love this picture because you can see everything in it. You have the green grass (it's like our bermuda grass here in AZ), the palm trees, the ocean in the background and the city of Talum in ruins. Soooo cool! I was beginning to feel like my mom snapping all those pictures. (Channel the cruise girls!)

Here follow a few of my favorite pictures of Darren and I and Becca and Daniel.

Sunday we went to church and didn't understand a thing for three hours - our translator is on the high council and had to speak in a ward in Cancun that day. The four of us played Life and Clue that evening when Daniel got back and after Darren made a yummy dinner for us all. We all stayed up way too late talking every night. Fortunately for us we had the nice bed - cheap vacation = staying with your family in exotic location. They were so nice and gave us the one bed to sleep in while they slept on mattress pads on the floor. It was such a great time. I'm not sure when we will get back there, but maybe next time we'll take the kids...or then again...maybe not!

I'm so jealous! Looks like tons of fun. Missy is so sweet to watch the kids. We just love her. And Becca looks so good too. Hope you have fun with my sis this weekend!

I've had that whole family come to help but everything goes wrong getting them there and then the kids throw up all over the place and I leave just in time for that family that struggled so hard to get there to clean up the mess...

makes you feel mighty grateful for family, eh?

You've totally got me day dreaming. Perhaps I will try to talk Randy into a trip to Mexico (A LOT easier said than done, sigh).

What a great vacation. How fun. And you were wearing shorts, in the ocean, getting an early start on your tan, AND NOT KIDS. What to go. I would try so hard to get back there again.
