Adventures in Bathtime

So today is the day. I am catching up with all my friends who blog and have been telling me forever that I should do it too. I am not succumbing to peer pressure though. It's just that tonight's bathtime mishaps must be shared. A little background info first though. I am the mother of three hooligans. I never approved of that word as a kid. It fits my brood to a tee though. Especially number three. Because of Lije, I know God has a sense of humor. I also know He's messing with me. I think He sent me Lijah not to test my patience or ability to mother, but to get some peace and quiet up there.

Darren was in charge of bathing the boys tonight. Lex had made it out in record time and we usually tag team the boys after the bath. I heard the lovely sounds of Parks turning on the water, dad's instructions echoing in the bathroom, and Lijah's giggle. Then panic enters my husband's voice and my name is repeated over and over. "Heidi! Heidi! HEIDI!" I dropped my book and booked it down the hall. Apparently I missed the actual action but the puddle and the naked baby said it all. Dad had undressed the 21 month old and gone to check the water being put in the tub. Apparently it was way too hot and my knight in shining armour was busy rescuing big brother. Watching this proved to be too much for the little one and he took aim, actually missed some of the carpet and peed on the bathroom floor. Or maybe it was a slight breeze that caused it all. Anyway no real harm done. So in the bath they both go. They are splashing everywhere and so I closed the shower curtain. Oh the lovely sounds of the boys splish splashing in the tub. After a few minutes of their giggles and splashes I hear a new panic filled voice shout, "Mom, poop, wijah pooped in the tub, gross MOM, POOP, WIJAH, POOP!" You get the picture. I pull back the curtain to find a million bathtub toys floating in the tub along with a little something extra. Uhhhggggg! Parks is clinging to the sides at the back of the tub with his hiney in the air. "I'm not sitting in the poop mom." Well duh.... Darling please come get the pooper, bathe him in the kitchen sink while I take care of this little floaty and scrub the tub so Parker can get down from his perch. Okay now that that's taken care of I fill the tub again, hand Parks the soap leave the door open so I can hear that he's still alive and head off to help Darren get the wiggle worm dressed.

There is nothing like a newly bathed, Johnson and Johnson baby lotioned, cute pajama wearing offspring. Nothing.... We dressed him, we smelled him, we patted his bottom and we sent him on his way. Then we sat down to try to watch a little of the debate. "Mom! Wijah's coming in the bathroom.”

We ran...we were not in time...we started over.

Yeah Heidi...I am so glad you are joining us. Oh my gosh, that is so the life of Kruz over here too. Except I am assuming he climbed out of bed, and Kruz doesn't do that yet. Thank goodness. But the girls have to bath/shower now with the doors locked, because Kruz knows how to dive in headfirst. I can't wait to read more.

Oh that is classic! I love that a picture speaks volumes. I breathed a frustrated and tired sigh with you as I read that and then saw the picture. Gotta love 'em when they're naughty. :)
